What is a bedside cot?
travel cot bedside , also referred as a bassinet or co-sleeper, is a small crib for babies that is attached to your adult bed. This allows your baby to sleep right next to you in a safe environment. This is a form of co-sleeping that is safe and does not increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) similar to bedsharing and can help you bond with your baby's new arrival.
They usually have a side that is able to be adjusted so that you can easily reach your infant during the night for feeding and comforting. Many of them are portable or foldable making them suitable for travel and as an interim solution for infants who aren't ready to move into a crib that is large enough.
When shopping for a bedside crib Choose a crib with a comfortable mattress and a protective cover to shield your infant from stains. You'll also want to pick up some baby-safe add-ons such as a blanket, a teether and cuddly toy.
If you're looking for a longer-term solution cribs are available with conversion kits that let you transform them into a toddler bed or cot at the time that is appropriate. This is great for extending their life span and making the transition more seamless. Some have a removable section at the top that can be converted into the bassinet. Others can be used with either an adult bed that is standard or a high-rise bed. This is an excellent choice for families who intend to travel frequently or switch between bedrooms at night. It is also important to consider the size of your room to ensure that you can fit the crib comfortably. Many cribs have risers that can be added to create an incline for babies who have reflux.

The Maxi-Cosi Lora
The Iora is a bassinet designed for infants designed to help parents feel connected with their baby while they sleep. It adjusts upwards and downwards and moves through three slide positions to be placed next to the bed of the parent or in the corner of the room so that the baby is always close to the parent's side. The mesh siding lets air flow through, and allows you to see your baby quickly. You can also store extra pajamas and supplies in the large storage basket under.
In contrast to other bedside crib options The Iora can be folded flat and comes with a carry-on bag so that it can be taken anywhere. It was easy to move around from room to room, and our mom testers thought it was the right size for a bedside crib. They also loved the large storage basket, which is ideal for stowing spare bedding or nappies.
This is an excellent choice for parents who want to co-sleep, but do not wish to share their beds or whose partners may be suffering from mobility issues, such as arthritis or back issues. Our mum testers love the ease with which they can access their child in the Iora, and that it has an adjustable reflux incline that can help with gas.
Our mums love that it follows NICE guidelines. These are to place the infant in a Moses basket or crib on its own without blankets, toys, pillows etc. The mattress is also sturdy and comfortable for the baby and sheets are readily available. It isn't as light as the other cribs for bedside use however, so if you want something lighter and more portable, think about one of the alternatives on our list.
